I have to admit that I tend to be a solitary shooter. I like to work alone. I enjoy the quiet that makes it easy to slip into the zone and give my client(s) my full attention. But as such things often go, the moment you’ve resigned yourself to being a lone wolf, you find collaborators who elevate your work without derailing your process.
This past January, I started a fruitful collaboration with Lulu Locks and her team at Suite Tart to bring old style Hollywood glamour to her vintage photography brand, Providence Pinup. They bring their top-notch hair, makeup and wardrobe styling expertise and I bring the technical chops in lighting, posing, and retouching. It’s a marriage made in Hollywood heaven.[Read more…]
The Providence Preservation Society held its annual Festival of Historic Houses tour this past weekend. On Friday, Ann F Clark and Samuel C Dudley, Jr opened up their home, the Ward-Perry House (built ca. 1814), for the festival’s kickoff event.
First Works and the City of Providence teamed up to put on the first annual Providence International Arts Festival this past weekend. The 3-day event boasted 15 stages, 500 artists and over 40 art installations in and around downtown Providence. Among my favorite sites and sounds of the celebration were the public skate park set up in the Dean Hotel parking lot and Angélique Kidjo’s get out your seat and move your feet performance.[Read more…]
